|Supporters Run for Mercy Across the Nation
Runners and walkers of all ages participated in the Run for Mercy 5K and Family Walks across the U.S. in 2010. According to Founder and President Nancy Alcorn, an unprecedented 1,000 people registered for the Nashville race and more than $65,000 was raised at that event! It was fun for the whole family, complete with a kid’s fun run, face painting, bounce houses and music by local musicians. There was some friendly competition between the many teams that joined forces in this year’s Nashville race. Team
Ramsey had the largest team with 97 participants, and Team Exodus Health raised the most money with more than $10,000 in donations! Team Blair decked out in bright pink tutus, sunglasses and striped socks for the Most Team Spirit award! Serious runners, mothers with strollers, families and even dogs turned out to show their support, reported Nancy Alcorn.
Over 500 people gathered at the starting line to show their support for Nancy Alcorn and Mercy Ministries in St. Louis. This was double the amount of participants from last year and double the amount of money raised – a total of $55,000! Before the start of the race, pink balloons were released in celebration of all the amazing young women who have come through the St. Louis home.
Over 250 people came to the Sacramento, CA 5K, and many toured the home after that race. Mercy also hosted a 5K in Charlotte, NC in anticipation of a home in that community someday. Both events were a huge success, said Nancy Alcorn, and plans are underway for the 2011 races in all of these communities!
